Over the weekend, the president of Uganda had the honor of attending the wedding ceremony of his cousin Phiona Akoragye who was exchanging vows with her now husband, Herbert Kahinda.
The ceremony that took place in Entebbe on Saturday was officiated by Arch Bishop Steven Kazimba Mugalu with a total of only 14 guests including the president and first lady, Janet Kataha Museveni.
The president took time and shared a post on his Facebook about the wedding in which he mentioned to people what a marriage ceremony is supposed to be about.
According to him, what is important about a marriage ceremony are the legal and spiritual elements, not the social fanfare.
His post read;
“Mama Janet and I attended the “scientific” wedding of my cousin, Phiona Akoragye, and her husband, Herbert Kihanda, in Entebbe on Saturday.
Phiona’s father, the Late Mzee Eriya Riisi, was a brother to my father, Late Mzee Amos Kaguta. Herbert is a son of Late Cosmas Mbagaya and Edida Katendwa Kasharu.
I thank Archbishop Steven Kazimba for presiding over this function that had a total of 14 guests. Like I have said previously, what is important about a marriage ceremony are the legal and spiritual elements, not the social fanfare.
I wish the couple a blissful marriage.”
The outdoor ceremony followed the recommended scientific guidelines as the couple and their guests kept their masks on, and when it came to the seating arrangement, there was a reasonable distance from one person to the other.
The ceremony was also elegantly decorated with a spacious skyline tent giving room for the recommended seating arrangement, plus mixed coloured flowers adding more beauty to the surrounding nature.
The couple was fashionably dressed as the bride looked stunning in an elegant white A-line gown, that she matched with a simple crown and an elbow-length veil keeping her hair naturally styled. Her matron, on the other hand, kept it simple in an all-blue gown that she also accessorized with a blue fascinator.
When it came to the gent’s side, the groom and his best man wore matching navy blue suits accessorized with red ties.
Congratulations to the couple.
