Over the weekend, Mr David Aryatamba Tumwine, the son to Security Minister Gen. Elly Tumwine, exchanged vows with Sheila Kakwanzi, a daughter to Mr Apollo and Jovansi Mabati.
The ceremony that took place at Kampala Sheraton Hotel on Saturday followed the guidelines of such a ceremony to be held in such times, with everyone keeping their masks on most of the time.
The couple was smartly dressed as the bride rocked a simple yet elegant white bridal gown. Her husband was equally smart in a white and black tuxedo.
According to ChimpReports, President Museveni who was the chief guest congratulated the couple upon their wedding and gave thanks to their parents, the Tumwine family and the Mabati family for raising their children well. Museveni in his speech said that he taught the Tumwines and so many other people together with his colleague, the late Mwesigwa Black. They used this opportunity to go from house to house teaching other people how to make money through modern commercial agriculture and other businesses.
He added that at first they were undermined because they were young but when they called these meetings, they taught people how to work which woke them up. It is through this work that the President says he got friends like the Tumwines, Mabatis and so many others that joined him later in the struggle to develop the country.
He then urged people to follow in their footsteps and help people to get out of poverty.
Gen. Tumwine thanked President Museveni for sparing time out of his busy schedule to celebrate with them their children’s marriage. In addition to describing him as a teacher, mentor, leader and a parent to him and many Ugandans, Gen. Twimine also awarded the president with a gift for leading the country well during this time of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The function was also graced by the Minister for Karamoja Affairs and Member of Parliament for Ibanda County South John Byabagambi, former Minister John Nasasira and Hon. Col. Fred Mwesigye among other guests.
