A fresh and attractive look on a wedding day isn’t only meant for brides. As your wife-to-be moves from place to place and flips through different magazine pages looking for the best bridal hairstyle, as a groom, you too need to make as much effort to find a look that is going to make you outstanding too.
You wouldn’t want to show up in front of hundreds of guests with a gorgeously styled bride while your hair is totally messed up.
Here are some hairstyles that will leave you looking elegant and stylish at the same time.
The gentle cut
According to Omar Opolot, a hairstylist at Sparkles Salon, the gentle cut is one of the most common hairstyles that stylish grooms opt for. Its detail consists of some hair being left at the top as the sides go fading away slowly until some skin is visible. This hairstyle is easy to maintain, comb and also keep neat since there is barely much hair left for it to get out of place.
For the London brush, the entire hair is left short and on the same level. Due to the fact that most people may consider this look to be so simple and yet they want to look outstanding, Opolot says the look can be complimented by giving the groom a neatly shaved sharp hairline and fades on the sideburns.
Hassan Kasule, a newlywed says he opted for a brush haircut because he considers it simple and elegant, “I wanted a look that gained me both respect and hot looks, I decided to choose the same level cut.”
The cooperate cut
This kind of hairstyle is a bit similar to the gentle cut however, the hair left at the top is slightly higher compared to that of the gentle cut. Usually, this kind of hairstyle is more suitable for youth compared to men of older age.
The afro is a hairstyle is rarely done on weddings, however, for those that decide to opt for it, the key thing is the way you style it. According to Opolot, the products you put in your afro are the ones that will determine the way it looks; whether you need it to have some curls or appear completely natural.
The bald look
The bald look means the groom will have no hair left at all. According to Opolot, if a groom opts for a bald look, it usually looks more appealing if they allow their beard grow, and then shape it well, “The beard acts as a back up to add some detail to the entire no-hair game.”
This kind of hairstyle works well for well-styled grooms and in favour of grooms who may suffer from early hair loss.
According to Opolot, when it comes to dreadlocks, the first thing on the list is to re-do them so that they look brand new.
The next step here would be the choice of styling chosen. The dreads can be held at the back, at the top or from the side, creating a ‘wakanda’ look for those who are more invested in fashion.
Dreads can also be re-plaited to form corn rolls and then held at the back.
Opolot adds that after re-doing the dreads, a hair treatment is used to moisturize the scalp and prevent it from being dry and itchy which may make the groom uncomfortable, “The treatment also helps to hold the hair in the same place in order for it to keep sharp and neat for the D-day.”
Accessorizing the hair
When it comes to accessorizing a groom’s hair, you don’t need as you do with a bride. According to Opolot, accessorizing a groom’s hair is the way you design it or the products you put in it.
Having completely natural black hair isn’t a common thing. However, the good news is there is what they call a toner. It will give your hair a natural black colour that no one will know that you added anything to your hair.
As for the dreads, Opolot says you can apply a bit of colour at the edges just to give more highlight to the hair, “Most grooms prefer to use a light brown highlighter, but there are various colours that can be used depending on one’s preferences.”
The small lines that are put in the hair are usually what is referred to as line-ups. Their major use is to give a head shape or make the hair cut stand out. Their location and shapes vary based on what the groom prefers. They can be on the left side, right or middle and they can also be curved or straight.
For a wedding, Opolot says groom used choose lines that are not too imposing.
Opolot says, aside from the hair, a groom needs to have a perfect facial look too so as to have a complete glamour, “The facial treatment consists of steaming, cleansing, toning and moisturizing.”
All this complIments the hairstyle itself.
