A total of 30 couples, 20 of which were youths exchanged vows on Saturday in Muslim mass wedding organised by Charity International and United Arab Emirates. The ceremony which took place at Charity International Kikaya was presided over by the Director Sharia Uganda Muslim supreme council, Sheikh Yahaya Kakungulu.<\/p>\n

Sheikh Kakungulu\u00a0revealed that\u00a0this\u00a0fourth mass wedding ceremony\u00a0is a great achievement in the Muslim community because many are\u00a0illegally\u00a0married.<\/p>\n

In muslim weddings, the officiation is done between the father or brother of the bride and her husband to be.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

\u201cSeveral youths are illegally married because people have turned weddings into show-off functions which has wrinkled the meaning of a blessed marriage. Previously, Muslims used to have simple weddings,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Sheikh Kakungulu urged the newly-wedded couples to be responsible despite getting married at an early age and uphold love to avoid flaws that may result in the suspension of their marriages.<\/p>\n

Sheikh Swalih Mutebi, the director of Charity International said that, the ceremony consisted of a simple exchange of vows and blessings because many\u00a0youths cannot afford\u00a0official marriages\u00a0due to financial\u00a0problems.\"\"<\/p>\n

\u201cToday, several boys and girls in Muslim community\u00a0are unable to marry because of lack of money, that\u2019s why we opted for this kind of wedding to show others that\u00a0there is a way to have a good wedding without all that unnecessary spending,\u201d he said.\"\"<\/p>\n

Sheikh Mutebi\u00a0added that\u00a0several couples go to the extent of borrowing\u00a0money\u00a0to have expensive weddings\u00a0and end up having financial problems after the wedding.<\/p>\n

\u201cI urge the wedded couples to make time to plan for their future with their wives and children. This\u00a0will strengthen their marriage bond,\u201d he said. \"\"<\/p>\n

Mr Ahmad Kyeyune and Ms Hawa Kyeyune, a newlywed couple said that\u00a0their emphasis\u00a0was to\u00a0get\u00a0married officially\u00a0in simple wedding\u00a0and to let others know the value of marriage.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think this wedding is a big step towards bringing a change in our lives and\u00a0society, more so our fellow youth because many fear responsibilities,\u201d Mr Kyeyune said.<\/p>\n

Charity International and United Arab Emirates provided everything for\u00a0the\u00a0couples including attires\u00a0and dowry.\"\"<\/p>\n
