Some of us as beautiful as we’ve never felt before. As we walk down the aisle, our faces covered by a delicate veil, all the guests watch, awaiting for the reveal and soon, he lifts the veil to unwrap the person within: “When my wife was brought in church, I saw a very beautiful woman. She looked more exotic than I had seen her before,” Mr. Fred Semasaazi who has been married for the last 26 years commented.

Despite loving your wedding makeup, and the new look that comes with it, sometimes as a bride, you have no clue of how to replicate it on a daily basis.

I have been through this. I tried this and the other, bought whatever my makeup-loving friends recommended but I always messed things up. That is not to mention the skin breakouts that some makeup products gave me.

Many ladies have been through a similar ordeal, but like I learned over the years, you do not have to replicate your whole wedding look but rather, pick a few tips that you can, with ease, work with on a daily basis. That aside, we all have different skin types so what works for one may not work for you. Just find what suits you and keep looking great for your husband, several years down the road. By the way, it is one way to keep the charm going…

Here are a few tips to consider as you develop this make up routine;

“Get yourself original products to prevent your skin from reacting thanks to fake products,” Fyona Kirabo of Fyona Kirabo Make up studio urges ladies. Original products will not make your face react unless you have serious skin issues like allergies.

“Start simple since you are not a pro; don’t beat yourself up because you can’t contour, highlight, bronze or make a wing eye lining,” she adds, “Start with the basics like foundation, powder, lipstick because those can do for an everyday look.”

“Be very observant with the foundation and powder you apply; make sure it is your perfect shade,” Kirabo says, “You can ask for help from a professional makeup artist.” If you have an oily skin, you may do away with foundation for powder.

Fadhilla Saad of Pendeza Beauty adds to that, saying, “When applying foundation and/or powder, less is better.”

She also goes on to advise that for one to achieve an enhanced look, keeping your eyebrows well shaped will do it.

“Moisturise your lips well,” Saad adds, “they are great to work with as it is easier to apply lipstick or lip gloss and the final look is also amazing.”

“When you are done with your makeup,” Kirabo says, “look in the mirror and ask yourself a few questions. Would I laugh at someone with my kind of look? Is it too much? Have I blended my foundation and powder perfectly into my skin? Aren’t my eyebrows so exaggerated, do I have lipstick on my teeth? If your answer is no then you can leave the house.” All these help you to avoid making makeup disasters seeing that this is quite new to you.

Note: Avoid sharing make up brushes especially those that have direct contact with your skin like the powder and foundation brush/ duster or beauty blender/ dabber. Besides that, endeavour to wash your brushes at least twice a month.

For a lady to maintain her big day look, she needs to invest in a few items. Aaliyah Naiga of Beautiful shares these tips with us.

Get a good moisturiser and primer; they are great to achieve great skin care.

Invest in brushes and tools because to apply makeup properly you need good brushes for foundation, concealer and eye shadow.

Have an eyebrow kit because eyebrows define the face.

Get eyeliner and mascara for the eyelashes; buy a good brand to give your eyelashes volume.

Foundation and concealer cover up any spots or blemishes, basically they make your skin even so invest in some. However, you could buy pressed powder which has both foundation and powder as it is easier to work with as you practice how to put the foundation.

Get blush and highlighter, it adds a nice healthy and subtle glow to your skin.

An eye shadow palette is also a must because it has both dark and nude colours that one can use everyday.

Don’t forget lipstick, of course. The choice of colour to wear is entirely up to you depending on the kind of job you do or your mood.

Makeup remover is essential because the skin needs to stay clean and healthy when going to bed.

Additional tips

“Cleanse your skin thoroughly, tone and moisturise regardless of your skin types,” Saad urges ladies, “Besides that, do not underestimate the power of scrubbing once in a few days. You need to choose your products after careful consideration keeping in mind your skin type, and do not change them too often. ”

Kirabo emphasises the need to wash your make up off before you go to bed. It allows your skin to breath and even out.

Pamela Musiimenta of Pamela Musiimenta Makeup Studio adds to that saying, “Eat right to maintain your natural beauty and avoid skin breakouts like acne. For example have fruits, vegetables, and other healthy foods, drink plenty of water, not forgetting having ample sleep.”

Remember to start simple until you figure it out well.

By Joan Salmon Weddings get us to looking beautiful.
