Daily Monitor’s multi-media editor and head photography, Eric Dominic Bukenya has kicked off 2020 on a good note after being introduced by fiancée, Doreen Kembabazi. The lovely couple who met in 2009 dated briefly in school but lost contact along the way. The couple rekindled their spark when they bumped into each other again in 2018.
Last week, the couple had a classy traditional wedding that took place by the poolside on Saturday 25 January in Bunga. This was after their kukyala earlier last year.
During the ceremony, the couple wore each other’s traditional attires creating a merge of Kiganda and Kinyarwanda cultures.
Bukenya’s first attire alongside his best man, Alex Esagala, a photojournalist in the same company was the Kiganda white kanzu paired with an army green coat.
For the groom to stand out, his kanzu had a more elaborate peacock- feather-like embroidery on his coat.
The groom and his best man later changed into umushanana with white shirts tucked into wrapped floor-length skirts.
To differ, Bukenya wore the Kinyarwanda black and white patterned headgear that matched well with the beaded walking stick he held.
Bukenya said his best moment at the function was when his entourage cheered him as he stepped out in the Kinyarwanda wear.
His bride’s first attire was a cream mushanana with a sweetheart navy green top tucked into a wrapped floor-length skirt that represented her Kinyarwanda culture. She accessorised her look with a white headband, ear pins and bracelet.
Her second outfit was a red gomesi with gold embellishments that represented her husband’s culture. She accessorised her classy hairdo with a side accessory of the same colours as the outfit.
Kembabazi’s best moment was when singer Bebe Cool lead her out of the house. She was also surprised by singer Rema Namakula who performed at the ceremony.
The ceremony was attended by his fellow Daily Monitor co-workers and other media personalities like NTV news anchors Andrew Kyamagero, Patrick Mukasa, among others.
