We are barely a week into the new year and we just can’t wait to see some of those new couples making it official in 2020. As we look out for those details that make a ceremony interesting and worth having a look at, one of the things that can’t be forgotten is the sense of fashion at the ceremony.
Traditionally, men simply put on a kanzu and coat for their introduction ceremonies but recently, men have found ways to have distinctive differences in their attires. Let’s take a little trip down memory lane and see some of the grooms that wowed us with their gorgeous outfit in 2019.
When Edwin Musiime, the host of The Property Show on NTV was introduced by his fiancée, Christabel Nansubuga to her parents at their home in Mutungo, he pulled out all stops and made a custom introduction attire which was designed by his best woman, Anitah Beryl, also owner of Beryl Couture.
Musiime kept his look fresh by removing the cloak and staying in an elegant long coat. This outfit matched well with the dress his bride has changed into.
His accessories which included shades and a cane made the groom look very stylish.
Dr. Hamza Ssebunya
Just like his wife Rema Namakula, Dr. Hamza Ssebunya was the total definition of elegance and class as he turned up for his introduction ceremony in Nabbingo. This groom stood out for wearing multiple attires at his introduction, something unique considering grooms traditionally only get to put on one attire.
Ssebunya wore four attires for the day. He arrived in a white traditional kanzu that he paired with a silky green designer coat. His kanzu also had a greenish neckline that matched perfectly with the coat.
Four the second look, Ssebunya turned up in a white kanzu that had a brown neckline pairing it with glittery coat with black highlights.
Ssebunya also wore a blue Nigerian attire that he coupled with white bead accessories, a matching head piece and a cane.
At the end of the ceremony, the doctor turned up in a light purple and black African wear with a matching purple African cap.
Sunshine Melody, the CEO of Kanta Group of Companies wowed us with his sense of fashion when he turned up in an all white Nigerian outfit with blue highlights when Kasese songstress Heli Loyce Agaba introduced him to her parents.
The groom chose to wear a combination of an all white attire, which he coupled with a blue African head and neck piece.
What stand out was that although traditionally, he should have worn a kanzu, Melody spiced up his attire.
Earlier in 2019, Ugandan local musician George Kigozi better known by his stage name Geosteady had his kukyala ceremony with long time partner Prima.
Geosteady showed up smartly dressed in a stylish maroon coat and a white kanzu with well-designed gold coloured embroidery on the neckline.
The singer accessorized the entire look with round gold-coated sunglasses and kept his shaggy dreadlocks short and neat.
Celebrated journalist, Charles Odongtho, showed off a bit of style when he was being introduced by his girlfriend in a kuhingira ceremony.
Instead of the predictable suit that is traditionally worn in Western Uganda, Odongtho and his entourage turned up in navy blue trousers and African print shirts.
Honorable Mukasa Mbidde
The Vice president of the Democratic Party and member of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA), Hon Mukasa Mbidde did not disappoint with his sense of style when he was introduced by his girlfriend Fiona in a Kinyarwanda cultural ceremony.
The politician wore a black and white Kinyarwanda attire that he paired with a matching head crown and neck beads.
It is not just the bride that has to put in effort to look her best on her big day, a groom too must go an extra mile and mind what he is to wear so as to make the day memorable for both of them as a couple.
