This month, two sets of twins have gotten married to each other in a lovely ceremony in Lagos, Nigeria.
The twin brothers have been identified as Caleb Kehinde and Joshua Tayeolu who wedded twin sisters, Bernice Elejofi and Eunice Taiwo.
The twin grooms also had another set of identical twin brothers Elijah and Enoch Olatunji, accompany them as best men.
In the interview, the twin brothers revealed that they have always wanted to end up marrying fellow twins. They said this was not an easy journey because the few they dated failed to meet their expectations.
Also one of the twin sisters, Taiwo revealed that their last relationships were emotionally stressful as they struggled with their partners’ right from the start.
In an interview with Saturday Tribunal, the brothers said the relationship with their wives started a few days after their last birthday.
One of the twin sisters, Elejofi had sent a Facebook message to Keninde to wish him a happy birthday, which led to a lengthy chat.
Keninde told his brother, Tayelou about it who also decided to engage Taiwo, the other twin in a chat. After sometime the brothers decided to travel all the way from their city to visit the ladies who were students at the University of Lagos.
The chats and the visit led to a relationship between the two sets of twins. The brothers later proposed to their then girlfriends separately and the responses were the same, -“Yes!”
The twin brothers also revealed how they have always wanted to end marrying fellow twins.
“As brothers we have lots of common interests, share virtually everything, including our finances. We do not want this closeness to come to an end as we have heard cases where women become an issue. Therefore, we felt that getting married to twin sisters who also have the same kind of relationship we have would further cement our relationship,” Keninde said.
Although they say it was not an easy journey as they dated several twins who failed to meet to their expectations.
Tayelou revealed that their last relationships were emotionally stressful as they struggled with their partners’ right from the start.
“We made our intentions very clear to the past twin sisters from the beginning. We told them we wanted very serious relationships. But as much as we tried to make the relationships work, the ladies did not cooperate with us,” he explains.
Keninde says it was in August 2018 when they ended the last relationships.
Even after a series of failed relationship attempts, the two brothers always hoped to one day get married to another set of twins.
Tayelou said they resorted to praying and fasting for 120 days over their search for suitable partners.
“After the prayers and fasting, we continued our search although we were not desperate,” Tayelou states.
The brides say unlike their men, they had no previous relationships. The students of Biology Education at the University of Lagos shared that they turned down several earlier suitors because they felt no connections with them. But when the twin brothers paid them a visit at the University, there was a strong attachment and three days later, things began to take shape in their lives.
Taiwo said when keninde mentioned about their intending visit, she readily agreed to it, and when Tayeolu called days later to say that he liked her and would want them to be in a relationship, she was surprised.
“I asked to think about it, “she said.
Elejofi added that when the two brothers professed their love for them, they informed their parents and the response was positive.
“I was confident about the relationship. We informed our parents and we thank God they gave their blessing and now here we are,” she reveals.
The twin sisters hope to give birth to a set of twin boys.
Elijah Olatunji, one of the best men also agreed that the twins’ marriage is divinely ordained.
“It may be unrealistic to some people, but to me no. What they were thinking at that time was what God really wanted,” Olatunji said.
The brides’ parents, Pastor Elifoji and their mother say they knew right from birth about their daughter’s marriage to twin brothers.
“While they were growing up, we were told that the girls would be unique and different from others,” Pastor Elifoji revealed. “All these we kept to ourselves and as they grew older, we began to see some of these things.”
The twin brothers are optimistic that they will stand as one with their partners from now on.
Tayelou said, “My wife and I stand as an entity. Keninde stands with his wife. Now I make decisions with my wife.
