On Saturday, May 2, All Saints Cathedral Nakasero opened its grand doors to a young couple, Maggie Ashaba and Elijah Ssekitto. Ssekitto, a son to Major Gen Elly Kayanja and his betrothed would go to become the first couple to be officiated into marriage by the Rt Rev Dr Stephen Kazimba Mugalu, the newly ordained Archbishop of the Church of Uganda.
The bride looked splendid in her ballroom gown adorned with floral embroidery and a white bouquet.
The groom was also smart in a navy blue suit with a maroon bowtie and boutonniere.
The Archbishop advised the couple to love each other and keep the honour of the marriage as that is the foundation of a good family.
After the officiating of the wedding, the couple had their reception at Fairway Hotel & Spa in Kampala.
In his speech, Major Gen Kayanja, the Head of Operation Wealth Creation Programme whose objective is to improve the standard of living of rural citizens, through farming thanked this son, Elijah for accepting to have the wedding as it was.(A scientific wedding)
The couple’s wedding is yet another example that the large weddings we have been accustomed to in Uganda do not necessarily have to be the way for a person to make it official with their partner.
We wish the couple the best in their new journey.
