I have known police officers to be stern and good at keeping their emotions in check. It is thus refreshing to see a beautiful personal message from one of them, written publicly to praise the person they love.
This was exactly the case today on Twitter as Asan Kasingye, the chief political commissar of Uganda Police Force took to his handle to celebrate his wife, as they commemorate 29 years in marriage.
“If I was to get married once again, I would choose u. @Jk03207283, thank u for everything. Congratulations for the 29 yrs of toiling, family, love & accepting my iniquities. 14 Sept 1991, will forever remain etched in our lives – simplicity & humility live on. Jesus+, our anchor.”
Kansigye attached two photos on the message, one of their wedding and another of their present day life at a Kuhingira ceremony.
His anniversary message excited many Twitter users who thanked him for being a good example.
Others thanked him for being the great kind of moslem man.
Kasingye said ‘I do’ to his wife at 25 years in an arranged marriage according to an interview he did earlier this year with the Observer, “It was deliberate. I had never had any girlfriend at high school, university or even when I joined the police. I went back to my village and told my parents about my marriage intentions.
They spotted for me a girl who was by then about to sit for her S6 exams and I also liked her; so, we got married. We never had anything like courtship or “getting to know each other” but I believed in her because our parents were very good friends though we had never met. Actually the day we were tying the knot was our fourth time to see each other.”
It is beautiful to see that this arranged marriage has worked, going beyond a silver jubilee, our faith in love and marriage is further fortified.
The couple is now blessed with with five children, two girls and three boys and a one-year-old grand daughter.
Happy anniversary, the Kasingyes, May you live to enjoy more fruitful years in your marriage.
