In a video posted online, Zambia president Edgar Chagwa Lungu is spotted looking all emotional as he walked daughter, Tasila Lungu down the aisle. It was over the weekend on Saturday, September 26, 2020 when Taslia exchanged vows with the love of her life, Patrick Mwansa.
Their wedding ceremony was officiated at St Ignatius Parish Catholic Church in Lusaka, the capital city of Zambia.
The President first shared several photos on social media of himself, his family and his daughter in her gown, moments before they set off to leave for the church ceremony.
In the photos, President Lungu is seen smartly dressed in a two-piece dark grey suit paired with a light purple tie while his first lady looked elegant in a light blue dress paired with a long-sleeved white trench coat. Her choice of a signature light purple hat, the sky blue clutch bag and accessories such as the lapel on her coat, a pearl necklace and bangles just made her look exquisite.
The bride of the day wore a body hanging mermaid gown and then covered her head with a long veil to cover her arms for the church service since her gown was short-sleeved.
While sharing more photos throughout the day on social media, the President accompanied them with an emotional message about how he felt a mixture of pride, joy and sadness as he walked his little girl down the aisle.
You have honoured me.

He wrote, “Giving your daughter away is not an easy thing for a father. I woke up with mixed emotions. In my eyes she’s still a little girl, my little girl. Taslia has honored us, and I was filled with joy as I proudly walked her down the aisle, giving her hand in marriage to Mr. Patrick Mwansa.”
Zambia’s head of state further gave some biblical advice to couples on how they can make their marriage a success.
“To both of you, look to God and your marriage will be a success. The bible says in Ephesians 4:2, “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.” And in 1 peter 4:8, the bible says, “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. May God bless your union,” he wrote.
According to the Zambia Observer, the two held a public engagement in the church and informed the world about their upcoming wedding which has come to pass.
