He might be among the funniest comedians in the Ugandan entertainment industry, but Hanington Bugingo, popularly known as Bujju is a serious man in his marital home.
Bugingo is celebrating his 11th marriage anniversary today and has taken to his Facebook to share a lovely photo of their wedding day and another current photo of him and his wife.
The lovey-dovey photos were accompanied by a sweet message praising his wife and also thanking her for being part of the journey that has enabled them to reach this milestone. He wrote,
“Happy 11th wedding anniversary my lovely Mzei Esther Bugingo. May the Good Lord continue Guiding Us as we grow Old Together. Thank you for taking Good care of all of us!” he wrote.
In an interview with chimp reports, Bugingo revealed that he met his wife through a mutual friend and they had their first date at the Monday Jam Rock at National Theatre in 2005.
The couple has been staying together for 16 years. They first lived together for four years, then decided to formalise their relationship in 2009. They exchanged their vows at Namirembe Cathedral on September 18, 2009, and later hosted a reception at UMA Showroom.
The Bugingos have been blessed with four children.
This anniversary celebration comes two days after the couple celebrated their firstborn son’s 14th birthday.
While wishing his son Manzi a happy birthday, the comedian further revealed how his wife strengthened him when he got cold feet after the birth of his son.
“When we were gifted with the gift of parenting this human being, we didn’t have anything to even feed him but we believed. I was actually so afraid of being a parent because we were too young but Esther Bugingo told me all will be well and indeed it has been,” he wrote.
He further thanked his wife for ensuring his son learns to cook as in his case, he refused to learn when his mother had tried to teach him.
Bugingo started doing comedy professionally since 2003 while at Makerere University pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in MDD. He started with theatre factory that was by that time owned by Philip Luswata.
He has since become a household name as a part of the popular comic group, Fun Factory. In a recent Facebook post, Bugingo revealed that his wife preferred to be kept away from the limelight.
Friends, family, fellow comedians and well wishes have filled the comedian’s social media page with lots of congratulation messages.
From My Wedding team, we wish Mr and Mrs Bugingo a happy wedding anniversary and more to come.
