What was meant to be a happily ever after moment for a couple that was about to get married turned out to be the worst nightmare of their lives.
Ann Magwi and Jonatham Munini were just an ordinary couple that was looking forward to spending the rest of their lives together until a man walked in on them just before they walked down the aisle in a church in Tana River county, Kenya on Saturday. The man claimed to be the biological father to both of them.
The alleged father accompanied by his sisters walked into the church to put the wedding to an end saying it is an abomination.
According to Daily Nation, the Holy Redemption Ministries Pastor, Festus Muli says the alleged father of the couple says the groom and bride were both products of his former relationships.
The pastor explains that James Sidai, the alleged couple’s father says that after his wife at the time discovered he was having an affair, their relationship became toxic and she left with their child, who was just a year old.
He thus decided to strengthen his relationship with his lover but due to financial constraints, they frequently had misunderstandings and she left him while she was four months pregnant. Later the lady got married to a teacher.
Sidai also went on to get married to his current wife with whom he has three children.
During the past years, he did not contact his sired kids until he saw wedding announcements through a Whatsapp group.
Mr Sidai produced photos of the two children when they were young and when at college that he had got from friends and relatives who interacted with them.
Sidai’s nephew, who preferred to stay unknown said his uncle has been trying to trace his children for the past 10 years in vain.
The wedding was called off and the parents were summoned for a discussion after the new information about the couple was revealed.
Pastor Muli says the groom was told that his father perished in an accident when he was still young, while the bride grew up knowing that the teacher her mother was married to was her biological father.
Both women didn’t deny the accusations from the alleged father of the couple.
To save the family from embarrassment, the pastor told the wedding guests that the wedding had been called off because the couple went against guidance from the church elders with regards to purity before the wedding.
Sources in the church told Daily Nation that the groom, a businessman in Madogo town, walked out of the meeting an angry man and drove away in his car leaving his mother in tears.
The bride, on the other hand, was whisked away with her mother and relatives in another car.
Pastor Muli advised parents to avoid such incidents, “If you happen to sire a child out of wedlock, tell them the truth about their father. Do not tell them he died in a road accident even if he is miserable in the streets, it’s ungodly.”
