A Japanese groom has amazed many online users with his ability to speak the Luganda language.

This was during his wedding ceremony at Namirembe Cathedral to a Ugandan lady named Dorothy over the weekend.

In an interview with NTV Uganda, while speaking in Luganda, the groom said he comes from the Ngabi clan in Buganda Kingdom which explains his ability to speak the language.

With his groomsmen, he walked into the cathedral elegantly dressed in two-piece black tuxedo suit.

They were followed by the bride escorted by her father in a long-sleeved ballroom gown accessorised with long statement earrings.

Right behind her were the bridesmaids in one shoulder sleeveless silver and white long dresses.

While speaking in Luganda, the Japanese groom praised his wife for giving him the best love since they met in the year 2015.

The groom says he has been rotating between Uganda and Japan for 11 years now.

Frank Walusimbi, the NTV Luganda news anchor was one of the guests the graced the ceremony.

HIS STORY

Tell me about yourself.
I am Kenichi Shiiya Yiga Omujapani, originally from Hokkaido northern Japan. I am the second born in a family of two. I teach Mathematics and ICT at Hana Mixed Secondary School along Kampala–Masaka Highway.

How did you get your kiganda name and clan?
It was given to me by my first Ugandan friend.

How did you meet your wife?
My wife Dorothy Becky Nalwanga Shiiya and I first met on Christmas in 2005 at the Church of God, Kireka where I had been invited by her elder sister. I was hanging Christmas lights when I touched a naked wire. I got shocked and she was the first person to come to my rescue. She was in her Primary Seven vacation then. She was still a baby and I had no feelings for her. Actually, I went back to Japan and only returned this year.

So, when did you see her again? Read more….
