It was about three weeks ago when Ugandan musician Wycliff Tugume, known professionally as Ykee Benda, knelt before his longtime partner, Emilly, and proposed.

The touching moment unfolded at the scenic Divine Resort, surrounded by close friends and family. Against a backdrop of water and lush foliage, Ykee dropped to one knee, asked the question, and Emilly joyfully said yes.
Then, last Friday, Ykee Benda took another significant step toward their future: he honored a promise he had made to Emilly three years ago by formally meeting her family.

“Yesterday,” he wrote, “baby took Dadzy to her Daddy! Three years ago, I promised a young lawyer that I would honour her name and her father’s household. Yesterday marked the beginning of fulfilling that promise.”

He continued: “Beautiful as ever, she walked into a room full of family, so emotional she could barely stand. She knelt, greeted Badman, and introduced him to the old man. Hearts were united, cows and goats were agreed upon, and we, these two lovebirds, could not be more grateful to God. Emily’s Kukyaala 2025: thank you to all who have stood with us. ON TO THE NEXT ONE!”
