This morning, the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Asan Kasingye, that many refer to as a Twitter addict, shared exciting news of his 30-year marriage anniversary on his Twitter account;
“14.09.1991. It’s 30 Bweddu. Hallelujah 🙏🏾 ” – @AKasingye
The famous Police Political Commissar and his wife got married on September 14, 1991 when he was only 25 years old. The two are now grandparents and parents to five; three boys and two girls.
The former UOT President’s marriage was an arranged one and he told The Observer last year, “We never had anything like courtship or getting to know each other, but I believed in her because our parents were very good friends though we had never met. Actually the day we were tying the knot was our fourth time to see each other.”
At the time Asan confided in his parents about his marriage intentions, his wife now was only about to sit her Senior Six exams. Asan says he had never been in a relationship.
Last year, he tweeted
If I was to get married once again, I would choose u. @Jk03207283, thank u for everything. Congratulations for the 29 yrs of toiling, family, love & accepting my iniquities. 14 Sep 1991, will forever remain etched in our lives- simplicity & humility live on. Tweeps are throwing in their Congrats messages;
“30 years isn’t easy at only 2 be a holy marriage. Afande @AKasingye I wish all boys can look up to you. I wish all of us the youth can look up to to you. I wish the older generation can look up to you. The great humility that you is an indication dat u have a strong wife behind you”
“Wow! Congratulations Afande @AKasingye
You have branded yourself such a lovely lovable police character in the face of a mud-faced police institution.
And the truth is, we’re proud of you as a representative of the police force. You’re the best face of that institute.
In an interview, Asan referred to his wife as a beautiful woman that he liked when he saw. 30 years down… Congratulations AIGP.
