On August 17th, My Wedding ran a story of a cake baker, Diana Karara Kobugabe Karara, who had a cake to deliver to someone’s wedding but was caught up because her husband was in intensive care with a blood clot in the lungs at IHK.

She shared her troubles on a WhatsApp group of Ugandan cake bakers, Cake Shop Uganda who didn’t hesitate to give her a helping hand.  The bakers divided the work amongst themselves and at the end had a happy couple, and a happy Kobugabe who managed to stay besides her sick husband, all thanks to them.

Today, the mood is festive in the Cake Shop Uganda group on facebook as Kobugabe’s husband has been discharged from hospital.

The administrator of the group, Asha Batenga posted saying, that although she had restraints about their decision to help out a colleague getting publicity at first, as it was a private matter between them, after the good news of the discharge, she is happy. To this, she shared a link of the first story.

She wrote,

“I never wanted to write about this story because it was in our private CSU Bakers WhatsApp group. But now after the good news, i can’t help it….. On Friday Diana’s Husband left hospital finally. We serve a good God. Thank you CSU team. This was so humbling ??. ”

Her post was followed by congratulatory messages from other members of the group.

Ingrid Ingabire commented, ” OMG, this is so touching, thank you for the kindness, God bless you Asha and the rest of the bakers.”

“This is what we call family. Bonds that bring us together for the good of everyone. Our God never disappoints and he places people in our lives that portray his presence in every situation… #AshaBatenga thank you for leading the team In many ways.” another person added.

“God bless you good people.May he reward your goodness. We give glory to the Lord,” another group member called Tina commented.

Many people followed thanking the group leader and those who contributed for their big hearts.

Ben Mwine, also the brother to the patient posted on his Facebook,

“You know you’ve crawled out of the jaws of death when the entire hospital literally shuts down to discharge you with a full guard of honour.”

Kobugabe made appreciation cakes for the team of doctors that worked on her husband.

The hospital also made a cake for their patient.
