As the world celebrates what is known as the annual festival of romantic love, friendship and admiration, Valentine’s Day, a couple in Trang, southern Thailand decided to tie the knot underwater this morning during an annual 3-day valentine festival called The Trang Underwater Wedding.
The bride who was dressed in a white wedding gown and the groom in a grey suit both having scuba diving gears exchanged vows and filled out marriage forms with a registrar underwater.
The Trang festival sees couples, both local and foreigners tying the knot between 13-15 February.
The act was recognized in 1996 by the Guinness world records as the biggest underwater wedding ceremony in the world.
According to yahoo news, an internet-based news aggregator Pichai Manasuth, Chairman of Trang Chamber of Commerce said that this ceremony has been held for 24 years since 1996.
”The underwater wedding event has become one of the best-known marriage ceremonies in the world. People come from all around Thailand and the rest of the world to take part,” he commented.
Couples taking part in the annual event travel from all around the world are treated like celebrities during their stay in Thailand. A special flight takes the couples from Bangkok to Trang. On arrival in Trang, the couples are greeted by traditional Thai dancers and showered with flower petals. This is the amazing way couples saunter into Valentine’s bliss and crown it all with marriage.
